Nova Scotia saw immigration reach record levels in 2019 with efforts to target employees in specific sectors
Lena Metlege Diab, the Immigration Minister, said immigration levels have reached a record high and are helping decrease the population age. The skilled workers relocating to the region are filling persistent labor shortages in key sectors, one being health care.
In the past two years, over 50 doctors and 185 continuing care assistants have received approvals to live in Nova Scotia through many immigration programs. Randy Delorey, the Health Minister, said he is encouraged by the success he has seen while working with the immigration department to support the recruitment of medical professionals to the region.
